2009 Offseason Update

Offseason Notes

So football is officially over, it's 2009 and we have about 60 days or so until our first practice. After the depressing end to our Spring 08' season and a lack of enthusiasm in the fall, times are a changin' on the Bombsquad front. I was so annoyed at how spring ball ended that I had absolutely no desire to update this site and finish the stats

Bombsquad Makes First Ever In Season Trade

In a stunning move, Bombsquad GM Darren Valdes traded infielder Eric Oppenheim to Cobra Kai for a right fielder and a pair of nunchucks to be named later. Valdes said about the trade, "Well, we're obviously sad to lose a fixture of our franchise, but we were looking to go in another direction. And I needed new nunchucks." Oppenheim was hitting .381 at the time of the trade with one longball and six RBI.

Bombsquad hurler Tim Hekl no-hit A&T Healtcare, as the Bombsquad took Game 1 of a double header this weekend.

Hekl didn't allow a single hit (thus the no-hitter) and Bombsquad and Company poured on the runs, winning by a margin of 10.

Bombsquaders, however lost the second game, 11-5. In an email, General Manager George Reilly said, "Game two was again pitched by Tim but we lost 11-5 although we almost came back."

Chris Rastelli homered again, proving that the game does come easier to some people. Darren Valdes also homered in the Bombsquad win/loss (I don't have a clue, I'm pulling this article out of my ass, because I wasn't there to see the games).

Tim, George, Darren, and Chris all had four hits on the day.

John Bladel only had 3 hits, lowering his team leading batting average to a dismal .647.

Also, according to manager Reilly, Mike Rizzo allegedly partied too much and was considered lost and missing at game time.
