2009 Offseason Update

Offseason Notes

So football is officially over, it's 2009 and we have about 60 days or so until our first practice. After the depressing end to our Spring 08' season and a lack of enthusiasm in the fall, times are a changin' on the Bombsquad front. Bombsquad Makes First Ever In Season Trade

In a stunning move, Bombsquad GM Darren Valdes traded infielder Eric Oppenheim to Cobra Kai for a right fielder and a pair of nunchucks to be named later. Valdes said about the trade, "Well, we're obviously sad to lose a fixture of our franchise, but we were looking to go in another direction. And I needed new nunchucks." Oppenheim was hitting .381 at the time of the trade with one longball and six RBI.

Four full years and eight full seasons later, the consecutive game streak of Eric Oppenheim had sadly come to an end at 180 games. Some thought this streak would never end but only 4 games into the Spring 2008 season Eric has succumbed to the "wife" and took off to Florida for an extended weekend vacation.
When reached for comment, Eric could not be contacted.
A lifetime .313 hitter, Eric has also been a team player over the years. Alternating between both catcher and second base at this stage of his career, number seven has also played outfield, short field, shortstop and even some third base during his Bombsquad career. He is also the only one who carries the equipment bag regularly and coaches the bases without being asked.

Here's to you Mr. Eric Oppenheim, this streak may never be broken!
